A Tango Sunday in Sheffield

Well, I’ve quite a bit of catching up to do, but first Tango Tea Dance news…

Jane has organised another of her excellent Sunday afternoon Tango Tea Dances here in Sheffield on Sunday 12 September from 3.30 to 6.30 p.m. It’s at the Millennium Hall (Polish Club), 520 Ecclesall Road, S11 8PY. There’s plenty of parking on Ecclesall Road itself and the side streets. Cost is £4.00 (£3.00 concessions) to cover the hall hire, refreshments, etc.

Many thanks for the nice comments I had about the music at Jane’s last event earlier this year. She’s asked me to DJ again, so expect a range of tango music from Di Sarli and D’Arienzo through to Pugliese and De Angelis, with a tanda or two of Color Tango and Otros Aires on the way.

It looks like being a full tango day with the opening of the new Tango Café at Sheffield’s Showroom on the same evening. “Cafetín de Los Amigos” promises a relaxed Sunday evening of Tango, music, drinks, chat… with a bar and café, a class followed by practica (8.00 p.m.), and milonguita and tango films (9.00 to 10.30 p.m.).
